Points of attention CRIMINAL TAX LAW

  1. A visit by the FIOD is always unexpected and inconvenient. The FIOD however comes prepared. Never underestimate the seriousness of the situation.
  2. Stay calm, consult a lawyer as soon as possible, and do not make any statements whatsoever until you have discussed matters with your lawyer. Do not consent to seizure of any object or document.
  3. In almost all tax crimes, there will also be a suspicion of forgery. The maximum sentence for this offence is relatively high and prolonged pre-trial detention is a possibility.
