In May 2022, Linda van der Hut, Caroline de Sitter and Floris Dudok van Heel again gave lectures for (junior) notaries on the notary’s statutory duty of confidentiality and the functional right to privilege.
These essential safeguards for free access to notaries were discussed in the light of criminal law practice. They discussed, among other things, the rights and obligations in the event of a search for seizure and what to do in the event of a request for information, whether or not relating to the notary’s trust account. The position of the notary as witness or suspect was also discussed.
