In March 2022, Linda van der Hut and Enide Perez delivered a lecture for (junior) civil-law notaries on the notary’s legal duty of confidentiality and the functional right of privilege.
These essential safeguards for free access to notaries were discussed in the light of criminal law practice. They discussed, among other things, the rights and obligations in the event of a search for seizure and what to do in the event of a request for information. The position of the notary as witness or suspect was also discussed.
