Sophie Stevens (admitted to the Bar in 2017) handles economic and general criminal cases. She joined our firm in September 2017 and works from our offices in The Hague.
Education and Career
Sophie graduated from the Free University Amsterdam in 2014, specializing in Criminal (Procedural) Law. During her studies, Sophie worked as a student assistant at the Faculty of Law and was a board member of the Criminal Law Advice Centre of the Netherlands. She completed several traineeships in the legal profession, also at Sjöcrona van Stigt.
After her graduation, Sophie started her professional career as a court secretary at the criminal-law section of the Court of The Hague. Subsequently, she gained working experience at the Court of Appeal of Amsterdam, where she was involved in handling many criminal appeal cases, including large-scale fraud and environmental law cases, as well as confiscation procedures.
Sophie is an author of the SDU Comment on the Code of Criminal Procedure (SDU Commentaar op het Wetboek van Strafvordering).
